Yoga On High Offers Yoga for Refugees

Yoga on High: The Refugee Health and Wellness Program had the opportunity to take a group of women for our first yoga session at Yoga on High with generous support from the Yoga on High Foundation for space and volunteer time of two instructors. The group included 10 women from Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bhutan and Nepal with a wide range of ages, English skills, and time spent in the US. Two instructors from Yoga on High led the  group through some easy stretching, meditation, and guided imagery aimed at relaxation and centering. While the participants had different levels of experience with yoga and meditation, one of the participants from Bhutan who regularly meditates noted that the guided session was "the best meditation that she had ever done." Everyone really enjoyed it - some requested we start coming every day!yoga-on-high-logo-315wyoga group photo
