Past activities have included Community Adjustment Support Groups, yoga and fitness sessions, therapeutic music, sewing and knitting classes, and local park outings. The Refugee Health and Wellness Program has collaborated with a range of local partners to offer health education sessions for community members focused on dietary nutrition, navigating the healthcare system, and self-care.

Provider Outreach and Education: The Wellness Program engages in ongoing provider outreach in the greater Columbus area. We also provide training on a range of topics including cultural competency, addressing the health and wellness needs of diverse populations, and informational sessions on the newly-arriving refugee populations in Central Ohio. Resources

  • Wellness Without Words

Wellness Without Words is a series of videos developed by CRIS in response to the insights received from our refugee clients, who consistently expressed a desire for more somatic & mindfulness-based interventions. This resource is not a substitute for mental health counseling but a supportive tool intended to help reduce stress levels & facilitate holistic healing, inspired by the clinician Brianna Rose, creator of the "Hack Your Nervous System" card deck.

  • Refugee and Immigrant Mental Health Coalition of Ohio (RIMHCO)

The Refugee & Immigrant Mental Health Coalition of Ohio (RIMHCO) is a collaborative effort of refugee and immigrant-serving organizations, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders. The mission of RIMHCO is to promote effective mental health services in Ohio through shared knowledge and community empowerment.
