Early Refugee School Impact (Early RSI) Program

 

An extension of our youth mentorship program Community Connectors, the Early Refugee School Impact (Early RSI) Program provides free early childhood development and educational support and resources to children ages 0-5, Kindergarteners, and their parents/guardians. Services are provided in-home, in the community, and in school, and aim to help each child develop, grow, and be prepared for success in school. Interpretation is available.

Eligibility

A child who is 0-5 years old or entering/enrolled in Kindergarten who lives in Columbus, Dublin, Hilliard, Reynoldsburg, or South-Western City School Districts, who was born before entering the U.S. and has been in the U.S. less than five years may be eligible.


Program Details

The CRIS Early Refugee School Impact Program (Early RSI) offers a wide range of support to help children develop, grow, and succeed in school.

Early RSI can help kids (ages 0-5 and entering/enrolled in Kindergarten):

  • Learn English

  • Prepare for/succeed in school

  • Connect to social groups

Early RSI can help parents/guardians of kids (ages 0-5 and entering/enrolled in Kindergarten):

  • Learn about U.S. schools, child welfare laws, and child safety

  • Find and enroll in childcare or preschool or Kindergarten

  • Connect to preschool-aged community programs and school events such as parent-teacher conferences
