The Beauty of Simple Community Giving
Last Sunday evening I attended a Christmas party with friends. My friend David, the host, encouraged those of us attending the party to bring donations of coats, blankets, and other winter items to give to those in need. David also shared this idea with other families living in the neighborhood. Later in the evening, we went caroling around the neighborhood. After we visited each home, many families handed us a bag of winter items. They enjoyed (we hope) our singing and also enjoyed having the opportunity to give! This week, I have enjoyed seeing the refugee families and individuals we work with receive the items that they need to get through their first winter in Columbus. I’m grateful for David’s simple yet thoughtful idea to help our clients! Are you planning fun activities with friends and family during this holiday season? Why not take advantage of this time of community to bring people together to give in creative ways?If you would like to gather together items to help our clients, feel free to contact me for ideas of what we currently need!
