One Refugee Without Hope is Too Many
World Refugee Day is a day when we celebrate the accomplishments and resiliency of refugees in our own communities, while also remembering the many refugees currently fleeing persecution or the individuals still living under oppression. Every year UNHCR creates a theme for World Refugee Day, and this year’s theme is “One refugee without hope is too many." As a part of UNHCR’s “Do One Thing” campaign, this theme reminds us of the importance of every single refugee, whether they live in a camp halfway across the world or in our own neighborhoods, and of the impact we can have on people’s lives by taking action. In order to raise awareness about refugees around the world, we will be posting one statistic every day until World Refugee Day on June 20th. As you read these statistics, remember the theme of “One refugee without hope is too many”, and think about how you can help the refugees in your community.
