Bashir’s Story
Bashir is a refugee from Ethiopia who came to the USA and first settled in Texas and moved to Columbus, Ohio in the month of July 2013. He came to Columbus with his wife and four children. He was given accommodations by Franklin County Children Services in a hotel for a while until we made arrangements for him to rent his own apartment. As always CRIS’s utmost desire is to help refugees to reach and sustain self-sufficiency and achieve successful integration into the community. So, we help refugees not for life long dependence on help from someone but, to attain independence and sustain self sufficiency. In light of this, the City program has given Bashir and his family very basic and essential services which we are sure will sustain him and his family to begin their endeavor to start their life in Columbus and achieve their American dream.Through the City program the family was able get the following:
